Purpose:
Since its
founding in 2001 the Woodturners of the Virginias's
(WoVA)
primary goals have been the education of its members in all
aspects of woodturning and the promotion of interest in
woodturning in Virginia and West Virginia. Efforts toward these
goals have taken various forms: demonstrations at monthly
meetings; technical seminars by nationally known experts;
exhibitions of members' work; skill enhancement sessions; book
and tool purchasing programs; and the publication of a monthly
newsletter. The WoVA club is one of 283 local chapters of
the American Association of Woodturners.
Our Members:
The
Club has nearly 50 members from the foothills of the Shenandoah
Valley and neighboring West Virginia. Member skill levels vary
from novice to professional. Member interests cover all types
of woodturning including bowls, spindles, pens, hollow vessels,
novelty items like bottle stoppers and much more.
Membership in the Club is open to anyone with an interest in
woodturning, regardless of level of skill or knowledge. Dues
are $20.00 per year.

Meetings:
Meetings
are normally held on the first Saturday of the month starting at
9:00am, in Mt. Jackson, VA. A typical meeting consists of a
business portion to discuss the status of the club, upcoming
events, group book & tool purchases, and other Club activities.
The business portion of the meeting is then followed by a
'Special Program' highlighting some new aspect of woodturning
for skill enhancement and education.
There is
also a skill enhancement session held on the third Saturday of
the month. This session is geared towards hands-on
activities to improve your woodturning skills
