Welcome!
Let me introduce you to the Woodturners of the Virginias, a chapter of the
American Association of Woodturners.
We are a group of men and women, young and old, with a wide variety
of backgrounds, professions and educations joined by a common interest in
woodworking, especially woodturning on a lathe. We attracted members as far
south as Waynesboro and north to Front Royal
in the Virginia Shenandoah Valley and westward to areas of West Virginia.
Our mission is to educate woodturners and the public about the
skills and techniques of using a lathe to transform rough pieces of wood
into utilitarian as well as artistic shapes.
Meetings monthly on the first Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until noon
include:

Coffee, refreshments and
informal woodturning discussions,

Demonstrations by a
member or an invited professional turner,
·
Show-and-tell of member
turnings,
·
Silent auction of
abundant local hardwoods,
·
Short business meeting,
·
Discounts on
frequently-used supplies, and
·
Reference library
available for home study.
Hands-on mentoring is the focus of
meetings on the third Saturday of the month so members can practice skills
and techniques demonstrated at the previous Saturday meeting or master other
turning challenges. Our members range in ability from novices to
accomplished and recognized artists, all striving to expand and share their
woodturning knowledge and skills.
Unique characteristics of our club are members’ friendliness and
sincere desire to continually learn from and teach each other. Come join the
